Support Boundaries for Daz Technical Support

This article explains the tech support boundaries for products sold on the Daz 3D website.  It does not include all artists as only some artists are required by their contract with Daz 3D to provide technical support.  Artists for brokered content, for example, are not required to provide technical support for their content.  For these products, contact Daz Technical Support.

 

Daz 3D TECH SUPPORT Provides Support for: 
Daz 3D Content Items (owned by DAZ 3D) (may be limited if used in 3rd-party application) 
Brokered Content Items (sold in behalf of the artist) (limited if used in 3rd-party application) 
Daz 3D Applications (such as Daz Studio, DAZ Mimic, Bryce, and Carrara 8.5) 
Daz 3D Plugins (includes Daz 3D's plugins for Carrara)

 

Daz Technical Support agents provide direct help for products that we sell through our website UNLESS they are:

Resell Applications and plugins
For example, iClone is a resell product.  All technical support for iClone is handled by Reallusion.  XFrog models are also resell and are supported by XFrog. "Resell" is considered differently from a brokered content product for which there is technical support through Daz 3D.

Brokered Applications and plugins
For example, Luxus Render plugin, aniMate2.  Plugins and applications are considered differently from content.  

Legacy Applications
Daz Applications that are now 'legacy,' such as Carrara 7, Bryce 6, Daz Studio 4.0 or earlier.

For these products, the user should contact the creator or original vendor of the product.  In the case of 'legacy' products, like Carrara 7 or earlier, there is no tech support.

We provide help for content items we sell in our store if used in a supported application.  For example, a figure and accessories sold in our store is supported directly by Daz Tech support when used in Daz Studio and our other applications. 

When the content is used in a third-party application, such as Poser or Vue, support is only provided as it applies to the content item.  For example, some features in Poser are not supported with our products, such as the Face Room or Visemes. 

In some instances, we cannot provide support as we do not have access to a copy of the application in question, such as Maya or 3DS Max. 

We do not provide support for content items, however, if they are resell items, such as many XFrog items.


Daz Tech supports applications and plugins that are made by Daz 3D.  You can tell this by checking 'Vendor' on the product page.  This includes Daz Studio 4.8, Carrara 8.5, Mimic Pro ('3'), Bryce 7, and Hexagon 2.5.  Earlier versions of applications may or may not supported.  In most instances, you may need to update your copy of the application, especially if the update is provided for free.

 

Daz Tech Support does not support Content Creation. If you need help with Content Creation, we suggest you visit our forums.

 

Daz Tech Support does not support custom install or runtimes. This doesn't mean that you can't try it or that it won't work, but we only support standard installs because non-standard installs have virtually infinite possibilities. Third-party applications and third-party plugins are supported by the vendor directly.  For example, Clothes Convertor, Manga Studio, Animator (DS Plugin), and Inagoni plugins for Carrara.



At our discretion, we *may* provide support for the use of your operating system (Mac OS or Windows) as it applies to the use of our products.  However, users will usually be directed to contact their computer's tech support to resolve issues with their operating system.

Resell Content Item (Vendor is noted as 'Resell') 
3rd-Party Application (Poser, Vue, ZBrush, Manga Studio) 
3rd-Party Plugin 

NOT SUPPORTED by anyone: 
Legacy products, such as Carrara 7 or earlier 
3D Content Products sold on other websites 
Operating System (Mac OS, Windows, Linux) Contact your computer's tech support
