Older .sit MAC Installers

Until all our old products are brought up to date with newer .ZIP installers you may want to try Stuffit Free to unzip them.

if you happen to get OS 9 installers (some old items are that), you can use SheepShaver (http://sheepshaver.cebix.net/) and install into a, empty runtime. Move that runtime to your OS X disk from the virtual OS 9 disk, then zip it. Then you can use my little "RendoInstaller" for Mac OS X found here (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=62435) to install it.

Another thing to have in mind while installing the older installers, the VISE installers, is that as they scan all mounted disks to locate possible Runtime directories, it can take eons before you get to the select your destination dialog. To avoid that, dismount any unneeded disk volumes, specially network volumes or TimeMachine backup volumes before you run these installers, and you will see a dramatic difference in installation speed.

While awesome, the solution needs to be updating the installers.  I just purchased and don't have time to sort this out.  Who else feels this would be a good idea?

The VISE / .sit info is now  "obsolete", all old installers are now .zip files, which can of course be installed with RendoInstall ;-)

stuffit doesn't work on the older files with lion. I wish I know this, as I would have gotten windows installed onto my mac.

I recommend using the DAZ Install Manager (even if you only want to use it for downloading), and most old content is now delivered as ZIP files, of not (you should file a bug).

And the problem is not stuffit, it's the WiSE installer inside it, there is a Stuffit for 10.7+ (http://www.stuffit.com/mac-expander.html)
